detect. Warren states “In my 16 years of practicing as a dentist, I have never known any method of analysis, technique, treatment or nutritional presentation so helpful, so exact, so satisfying, and have such a high level of quality as Contact Reflex Analysis.”

One has to question the value of this commission when it is clear that the eclectic and actually quite strange alternative practitioners it has gathered together have been charged with making recommendations to the United States government about the implementation of government policy on alternative and complement- ary medicine. To think that these people are being paid to find ways of promot- ing and mainstreaming their practices with the blessing of the United States government is mind boggling to say the least.

The stripping away of the foundation of natural sciences for medicine by claiming equality for such a mixture of contradictory and irrational practices as represented on this commission is irresponsible.

A focus on identifying and providing guidance for the full spectrum of the health care and psycho-social-spiritual needs of an increasingly older population in a fiscally responsible and scientifically sound way, while encouraging innovative research into the projected health care problems of the 21st century is a task which it would be well to address. But this commission would not be capable of that task.

Instead we have an ill advised marriage of science, pseudoscience and salad bar spirituality under the guise of holism and so called “complementary” medicine which is a step back to the past of superstition, fantasy and plagues.

Welcome to a re-invention of medicine in the 21st century.
