Nowhere on the page does NVIC suggest that parents check with their own physician, a recommendation that would actually make sense. This is another unfortunate feature the antivaccine groups tend to have in common, discouraging parents from seeking advice from their own physicians. Some groups carry this to extremes, actually telling parents that their own doctors either do not know much about vaccines, or may not be honest with them. This is an ethically questionable stratagem which has undoubtedly led to a great deal of confusion and fear on the part of concerned parents who have the misfortune of encountering one of these groups.
